Know about Computer malware?

Malware/Malicious Software is software that intentionally causes damage to a computer, server, or computer network. This malware is mainly divided into parts like Viruses, Worms, Trojan Horses, Ransomware, Adware, and Phishing. Let’s talk in this article about how this malware works and how to avoid it.

Well, I said above that this malware is divided into parts, now let’s talk about these parts one by one.

Know about Computer malware?

1. Computer Virus

These are connected to a computer program and spread their copies on the computer. These viruses invade computers from computer networks, external storage devices, or email attachments. These damage the computer’s data, software, and hardware, and every computer virus is related to the computer’s executable files. That means that after this virus enters your computer, it remains active in the computer system all the time.

2. Computer Worms

These computer worms work in the same way as the viruses we talked about above. But these worms have the ability to function and spread on their own. These invade computers through Email Attachments, Fake Websites.

3. Trojan Horse

Malva is named after the wooden horse used by the Greeks to conquer Troy.
These appear to be genuine but very harmful software. These are connected to the computer without the knowledge of the user. It makes the user uncomfortable by creating unnecessary computer windows and changing desktops, deleting documents, and stealing data. But this Trojan does not infect like the computer viruses and worms we talked about above.

4. Ransomware

Another type of malware is being talked about a lot these days. In simple terms, what this ransomware does is enter the computer and encrypt the personal data on the computer in such a way that it cannot be used, and request a certain amount of money from the user to recover them.

5. Adware

This is done by displaying unwanted ads on your computer screen. Although these are not harmful like computer viruses, they cause psychological distress to the user.

6. Phishing

Phishing attacks are used to trick users into obtaining information about their bank accounts, electronic accounts, etc. For this, e-mails are sent to the user through short messages and come in the name of a well-known company or a friend. A link is also sent along with this fake message and the information obtained by clicking the link or filling out the details sheets is used to steal users’ money and important information (eg passwords).

How to escape from this?

Ok, we are talking about some parts of computer malware, how they work, and the damage they cause. Now let’s talk about how to avoid this malware.

  1. First of all, install anti-virus software on the computer and keep it updated all the time.
  2. Scan with Anti Virus Software every time you connect External Storage Devices to your computer.
  3. Always use legitimate software.

If the computer is connected to the Internet,

  1. Always visit Trusted Websites.
  2. Use secure websites to download software or other content.
  3. Be careful when opening email attachments. Avoid opening suspicious emails or clicking links in attachments.
  4. Use Firewalls, Virus Guards, and Email Filters.
